Subject: Can you lose your salvation? |
Bible Note: Hi WOS, I don’t think such a debate would serve to edify the body within this forum. When the sealing happens, in my opinion, does not dictate the nature of that sealing. We appear to disagree over the course this discussion has taken, but that need not occupy undue forum space. Concerning your notion of eternal, I would suggest we consider the ramifications. If expressing something that happens in an “eternal” way means that it “describes all ages”, are you suggesting that since we have received eternal life, that we will have lived from eternity past? I would think that only God does that. You asked, “According to 2 Timothy 1:9, who saved us and when?” 2Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, God has saved us. But this verse does not tell us when we are saved. “Before the world began” as a clause relates to God’s grace being given. But you and I, we have different presuppositions, I believe. You believe, unless I am mistaken, that God’s grace is only given to the redeemed. I believe that God’s grace is given to all, but refused by many. We won’t settle our differences with this passage, unfortunately. Rather than get into this debate at this time, I’ll just close with this: Romans 8:28-29 (28) And we have known that to those loving God all things do work together for good, to those who are called according to purpose; (29) because whom He did foreknow, He also did fore-appoint, conformed to the image of His Son, that he might be first-born among many brethren; 2Co 5:17 so that if any one is in Christ -- he is a new creature; Eph 1:3 Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who did bless us in every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, Love in Christ, Mark |
