AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 1:13 In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God]. [John 7:39; Acts 2:33] |
Subject: Can you lose your salvation? |
Bible Note: Greetings WOS! Lookn responded to the 'timing' issue because the claim was made in a post that the sealing of the Holy Spirit takes place sometime prior to a persons actual salvation. The verse used to support this statement was Eph. 1:13. However, the verse actually says that the sealing of the Holy Spirit takes place after 'believing'. I certainly don't want to get involved in the whole 'once saved always saved' debate, but there has been a lot of careless proof texting lately on the forum. If we are ever going to understand the 'big doctrines' of the Bible, we had certainly better be clear on the details of individual verses. :-) p.s. - I never did like the phrase 'lose your salvation'! One might make a case that salvation can be rejected, but how would one lose it? ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
