Bible Question: what does the bible say about the defininiton of dating? isn't dating a meeting between someone at a certain place and time with agreement from both parties to get to know each other better? does that mean as christians we shouldn't date a non-christian eventhough we're strong in our faith? but we, christians should't confine from the world but instead set a testimony by bring forth the light to the world and be a channel of blessing?.....cUrIoUs |
Bible Answer: Hi, Feli! Both EdB and Kalos have offered excellent responses... I just wanted to add my for comparison... I met this girl that had a problem with self-esteem, she dated (in the most liberal form) several guys per month... when I attempted to counsel her, she rejected my advise as old-fashioned... eventually she hit bottom... I happened to be one of the few persons that she could still count as friend... she made great efforts in remaking herself... finally she was dating just one guy... sadly this guy was dating just as many girls as he could find! Christians cannot date as the world defines dating! Christians can interact with non-Christians and can teach, preach, testify to them! Christians who search for love in a nonbeliever will, for the most part, end up rejecting Christ to please their mate or end up in a failed marriage as they strive to please both masters! I liken a Christian in a relationship with a non-Christian as the old "sowing the wild oat" in order to clear the path for a faithful marriage--there's no limit to the ability of the wild grain to resurface! So if you truly feel this person is your "soul mate," bring that person to service and once you are both in the Lord proceed with the matters of the heart! God Bless! Angel |
