Bible Note: Truth be known when the Bible speaks of Christ coming, the word that is used isn’t even a word that shows action. i.e. it isn’t a verb but a noun. The noun (PAROUSIA) is used and it describes an event that the starts off with the return of Christ for his faithful believers and continues until the setting up of His kingdom. Just as the first coming of Christ took a period of time, 33 years, so his second coming will take a designated period of time to complete. When Christ comes back he will, putting it in human terms, kill two birds with one stone. The believers will be going through immense persecution at the time as it says in I Thess. and as a result God will deal out some tribulation to them when he comes to be glorified in his saints. 2 Thes. 1:6-10 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; [7] And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, [8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: [9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; [10] When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Notice in verse 10 (when) this will be done! CDBJ |
