AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 12:7 Because of the surpassing greatness and extraordinary nature of the revelations [which I received from God], for this reason, to keep me from thinking of myself as important, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan, to torment and harass me--to keep me from exalting myself! [Job 2:6] |
Bible Question: Why was the thorn given |
Bible Answer: The thorn in the flesh being the messenger of Satan to torment Paul, so that he could not exalt himself because of the many revelations he received from above.I can personally related to that.Today I am more humble than before the thorn in the flesh.I do not think that our pride is easily abated because of the pain or suffering. It is always by the grace of God that our ego dies or is extinguished. In the past I was proud of my intelect; but today I donĀ“t know what I really know. This conclusion is not only a philosophical statement. It is actually a perception of my limited knowledge of the reality.Satan is a proud man;but by the grace of God the very instruments of Satan work together for the high purposes of God.This is what happened to Paul and can happen also to us. |
