Bible Question: Why is there such opposition God wanting to heal His people? I'm baffeled at the number of people who believe this. |
Bible Answer: Dear Jesified, Let me say this up front: God is sovereign (Ps.115:3). He can heal anyone at anytime the HE desires! However, today, healing is not an everyday nor everytime occurence. It's not NORMATIVE. From a personal perspective, let me offer this brief illustration. I say this not to evoke sympathy, but rather to illustrate a point. My mother professed Christ with her mouth, and also exemplified Him by her life. almost 25 years ago she underwent surgery to remove a brain-tumor. Due to complications, she suffered a stroke, whereby she spent the next 2 years in a semi-vegitative state before she died. Now, during this time, there were dozens of belivers from our church praying for her. How do we reconcile her death with the sincere prayers of others?(James 5:14-16) My only answer, once again, lies in the sovereinty of God. I know three things from this experience: 1.It is not of him who will, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy (Rom. 9:16); 2.I can be thankful for God allowing me the time I had with my mother. In all things give thanks (Eph.5:20); 3. I can now comfort others because of the experience I've had (2 Cor. 1:4) So, does God always "heal" someone who is sick? The empirical evidence alone should convince one that the answer is no. Speaking the Truth In Love, BradK |
