I would only ask you that if you and your "girl" wanted to be married before God, then why would the two of you exchange your vows in a manner where no one else was a witness to your declaration to become one before God? When we are blessed to find the one to whom we will yoke ourselves, we would naturally want to share our joy with the other loved ones in our lives and to have the union blessed by God and sanctioned by the state. Remember that the Lord commanded us to keep the laws of our government (unless the government's directive was contrary to God's law as we understand it to be), and speaking as someone who is employed in the legal world, your "marriage" is definitely not sanctioned by any government in the United States.
