Bible Question (short): Paul's view of women and marriage |
Question (full): 1Corinhians 7:1 It is good for man not to marry. But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband... Verse 7: I wish that all men were as I am. Paul thinks that men should not marry or become involved with women. He is essentially saying that men who get married are less worthy in God's eyes than men like him. They have a weakness that Paul didn't have. With these statements, I take it Paul probably thought sexual intercourse between those married was a weakness and not something God would condone. I'm confused. What is Paul saying here? |
