Bible Question:
Prov 5:18 Let your fountain [of human life] be blessed [with the rewards of fidelity], and rejoice in the wife of your youth. My wife left me about 3 years ago. Too many kids and too much responsibility. The question is this. My fiancee is concerned that we should not marry because of this scripture. I know that a man is suppose to have ONE wife. However, what do I say to this scripture here? We just truly want the will of God. |
Bible Answer: Hello allforlife, Good question! Here's my suggestion. First, ask yourself, is this verse in Proverbs "descriptive" or "prescriptive"? Study the whole context of Chap. 15; Second, I think you'd be better served to look at the scriptures that clearly deal with and speak to marriage- such as 1 Cor. 7 ( you might also want to do a topical study of "marriage"). Read, study, and meditate upon the chapter and commit to praying about your situation. Seek Him! Here's my admonition to you both: Prov. 3:5-6! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
