AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you [before you believed]. But you were washed [by the atoning sacrifice of Christ], you were sanctified [set apart for God, and made holy], you were justified [declared free of guilt] in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the [Holy] Spirit of our God [the source of the believer's new life and changed behavior]. |
Bible Question: what is chapter 6 verse 11 exactly saying to us? |
Bible Answer: Salvation scripture 1 Cor 6:11 Such were (this means we are not sinning anymore, past tense. We are not sinners anymore.) some of you. 1 cor 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? (Do you understand what this is saying?) Be not deceived: neither (you were) fornicators, nor(were) idolaters, nor (were) adulterers, nor effeminate, nor (were) abusers of themselves with mankind,10 Nor (were) thieves, nor (were) covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. but ye are washed, (by the water by the Word) Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it (you) with the washing of water by the word, but ye are sanctified, 2 Thes 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: but ye are justified (by being doers of the law) Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. in the name of the Lord Jesus, (his name is the Word) Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Thes 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication. ( For you do not live after the flesh anymore but after the spirit that has come into your body that leads you to put to death all unrighteousness) Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. (You cannot continue to sin) Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, We are Saints not Sinners. 1John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin;( This is not hard to understand) for his seed (the Word) remaineth in him: and he cannot (continue to) sin, because he is born of God.10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
