AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 13:1 ¶ If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God's love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. |
Bible Question:
Hi, good day to all. Today love can mean anything to anybody. But thankfully I have a firm place value on love. But there are still some parts here and there that are a bit blurry. I know we all can't explain everything about how love works, but i have a couple things to say about it and ask... I know love mainly deals with other people how they live and helping them and being with them. Because if we have everthing but not love we are nothing... So here is a question: If a person has love, will they no matter what disregard themselves no matter what a person does to them good or bad, meaning is a person who has love, just supposed to let it happen to them, whether it's good or bad? Because people talk about sticking up for yourselfs you know and not letting people control our lifes and bring us down if we let them... So could someone kind of exlain how they think and believe about this concept about love... Thank you, God bless. |
Bible Answer: Dear NightJay, Glad to know that you like to learn about this wide and deep subject. Keep up the good work. May I offer my 0.2 percent (I dare not say 2 percent) of my understanding concerning the subject. God is love. (You probably know this) Paul has given us a detail description about love in 1 Corinthian 13. Most of the time the sermons I heard, the speakers quoted the famous 1 Cor 13 as an encouragement / guideline to us for treating one another especially in wedding ceremonies. One day, our cell group leader shared with us an additional view that 1 Cor 13 is talking about God. For He is the source of love. It seems I have not answered your question yet. Matt 22:39 ....and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." If you don't love yourself, how can you love your neighbour? Who control our lives? GOD, no one else. Hope the above is helpful to you.
