NASB | 1 Corinthians 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 13:1 ¶ If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God's love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction]. |
Bible Question (short): 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 |
Question (full): I gave a Sunday School lesson recently where I pretended I was successfully blessed with worldly knowledge where I wrote a couple books and gave 15,000 dollars to the poor however I showed in my skit where I was proud of my achievements I had a person hitting pan lids together to represent my sounds as tinkling cymbals being hit together. Then at the end of the skit I read 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. It says in those verses that we are nothing if we talk good, give money to the poor and have knowledge if we do not have God's love. Does the passage refer to christians only or is it okay to refer that to nonChristians also. hopefully I am not being confusing I just want to make sure that nonChristians could apply 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 to them as well as Christians. thanks for your comments |
