Subject: gifts of Healing and Miracles for today. |
Bible Note: Hello royalone, Using the same verse of Scripture that you enumerated on to prove your point regarding the function of the “gift of healing” as still being active; 1 Cor. 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. What advantage would it serve today since the Lord promises to take care of His own? Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Since you affirm the activity of the “gift of healing” as still being a “necessary and active” gift are we to assume there are still apostles functioning in the church as well, since it was mentioned as being set in the church the same time as the gift of healings? Some gifts are still functional such as teachers but our modus operandi is faith not sight. 2 Cor. 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight-- i.e. believing God’s Word is proof; that which is perfect has come, God’s written Word. It would appear that the apostle Paul himself eventually lost his “gift of healing”. 2 Tim. 4:20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick. I definitely believe in divine healing, I just don’t believe in divine healers. 1 Thes. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. The Lord healed my wife after having 25 grand mal seizures and 2 strokes in one day and she has no after affects but she sure has been used of the Lord as a result. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. God's grace is still sufficient even if He chooses not to heal. The lord still answers prayer, yes, no, or wait. In prayer there is a petition and a desire. Paul prayed three times to have he thorn in the flesh removed. His desire was to serve the Lord; he petition remove the thorn. His desire was granted but his petition wasn’t. 1 Cor. 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
