Bible Question:
Do Christians create the environment for other Christians to convert to Islam, other non-Christian religions or cults? When a Christian tries to recruit another Christian into their denomination, they promote "seeking" by focusing on the imperfections of the current denomination. In addition to exploring other Christian denominations, will Seekers potentially explore other religions or cults, including Islam - creating the possibility that the 'seeker' will be lost to Jesus? |
Bible Answer: Brian.g- First, a true Christian should create an environment that would cause people to desire to come into the Christian faith, espescially a mature Christian. Sometimes new Christians are so on fire that they rely a lot on self and not on God in telling about their faith. We are to spread the Gospel, but not to overpower or shake the unbeliever into acceptance. I know, I've been there. Secondly, I don't believe anyone who calls himself a Christian has the right to cut down any other denomination. There are many denominations with the same basic belief (that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and salvation is only through faith in what He has done and by asking HIm to be Lord of your life and to repent of your sins)- merely different "frosting". But if a person is unfulfilled in the denomination they belong to, I don't believe it is wrong to tell him why you are satisfied with the church you belong to. This can be done without "cutting down" the other's denomination. I believe there are differences in the ways of worship to fit people's different comfort zones. Third, if you have truly put your faith in Christ, you have the witness of the Spirit that it is true. Recruiting is a bad choice of words. When I share my faith, I am not trying to "recruit". But if I have the opportunity to share with those of a cult or a religion that doesn't have the true facts of Jesus, I want to know what he believes so I can point out the truth that I know. I think it all boils down to love. If the reason you are reaching out to non-Christians or those who say they are but are unchurched, if you are doing it to feather your hat, your motives are wrong. If you do it because you love as Christ does, it will show. God bless- Debbie Now if the church they are going to are not teaching biblical truths (cults, etc.),yes, scripture should be pointed out to them. The Holy Spirit will guide them, if they are willing. |
