NASB | 1 Corinthians 1:10 ¶ Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 1:10 ¶ But I urge you, believers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in full agreement in what you say, and that there be no divisions or factions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your way of thinking and in your judgment [about matters of the faith]. |
Bible Question: In this political season, how can we square Paul's words with our deep disgust for our lost Democratic Christian counterparts. Can a person even be a Democrat and be a Christian? Maybe I just answered my own question? |
Bible Answer: survivor, I think it a stretch to interpret Pauls' words to be specifically aimed at a political party in general. Where in the context does he address politics? There is simply no scriptural prohibition against any specific political party. Yes, one can be a Democrat and be a Christian. Why couldn't they? ( Matt. 5:45) There are lost souls in both the Republican and Democrat parties. Morality does not find its' origin or exclusivity in any particular political party. (Phil. 3:9) Neither is Salvation exclusive to any one party. One's salvation is found and conditioned on belief in the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
