Bible Note: Everyone, Wow, so many thoughtful replies. I was at work typing before and am now home. I tried to fill in my beliefs on the profile as someone said, but it is pretty short. I will try to flesh it out after reading some others. I appreciate everyones insights. It seems the general consensus is to stick with the Bible and live with the fact that I can't seem to resolve all the questions. Since everyone seems more experienced than I it is probably wise for me to take the advice. But, BradK talks about the cannon. I guess than I would ask, who decided the cannon was the Bible. There are books those in the Bible quote from, surely those books must be scriptures. Or else why would they quote from them? If I could get access to those books, wouldn't they be scripture? Maybe I can't, but the fact that we don't have them would show me the Bible is not all God ever said or that was ever recorded. Its possible it is all He wants to give us right now. And BradK, yes I believe 3 Tim 3:16. But that scripture just tells me that all scripture is good, not that we have all scripture. Thanks everyone for helping with this. Ted546 |
