Bible Note: Brother Brad, How can "depart from THE FAITH not be dealing with salvation? Isn't there only one FAITH? And Judas was just as saved as any of the other disciples. If anybody would be questionable as far as saved is concerned we could easily condemn all the disciples. Remember when Jesus rebuked Peter "get behind me Satan" and the name so familiar with Thomas (doubting). Jesus called them qualified them and sent saved men out to preach the gospel, heal, and cast out devils. Truly the scripture foretold of the betrayer, but any of the twelve could have been the one. The fact is that Judas gave place to the Devil and therefore he was the one. Joh 13:27 And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. I don't want to give the impression that our salvation can't be secure, I just want to express the fact that some belive salvation is a one time deal, there in no need to have a relationship with God and his Son, and this is refuted throughout all of scripture. There is no scriptural evidence that suggests we can't backslide! We don't have to, but it is possible. And indeed the grace of God is more than able to keep us as well as save us, but God will never force us. You used Titus 2:11-12, and that is the issue I've tried to point out to many. Grace has a lesson to teach and it is that if you are saved you are activly saved it isn't a passive experience. You will be zealous of good works, dening ungodliness and worldly lusts, living soberly, righteously, and Godly in this present world. It won't be I was saved when I was 12, and it really doesn't matter how I live now! That only spits in the face of Jesus because that type of lifestyle expresses that there is no power in his blood to convert the sinner. And we know 2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Speaking The Truth In Love Rev. Thomas H. Guinn |
