AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 7:25 Thanks be to God [for my deliverance] through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind serve the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh [my human nature, my worldliness, my sinful capacity--I serve] the law of sin. |
Bible Question:
Hi Tim, (Rom 13:14 KJVA) But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh (sarx), to fulfil the lusts thereof. Does this imply that the carnal nature still exists. Best, Thomas |
Bible Answer: I believe we are tempted by our carnal nature but that does not mean we need to obey it. The righteous will live by faith. By faith we know that we are dead to sin but alive to God. Romans 6:6-7 "..knowing this that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no loner be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin." Romans 6:11 "Even so consider your sleves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus." Romans 6:12-12"Therefore do not let sin reigh in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts and do not go on presenting the members of our body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and our members as instruments of righteousness to God." Picture your old self as lying dead in a coffin. Your old self was attracted to various sins but remember that a dead person has no power over you. We are now alive in Christ and having godly desires to do what is right, lovely, pure, honorable. Colossians 3:5 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.." Colossians 3:9-11 "Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him" |
