NASB | Romans 7:13 ¶ Therefore did that which is good become a cause of death for me? May it never be! Rather it was sin, in order that it might be shown to be sin by effecting my death through that which is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 7:13 ¶ Did that which is good [the Law], then become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, in order that it might be revealed as sin, was producing death in me by [using] this good thing [as a weapon], so that through the commandment sin would become exceedingly sinful. |
Bible Question:
I ran into this little thread again (I ws looking for something on the nature of sin) and I must say I am really puzzled by it. The thread has to do with the sinfulness of sin, but it seems the originator should not have brought it up because in so doing he was committing a sin. What was his sin? He was soliciting information with the intention of sending his clients to this thread to read the information. His clients would be paying him and they would be getting the information here for free. That is different from what the owners of this site do, to offer all of the information on this forum for free. Meanwhile, it is OK for them to sell Bibles on the same web site. Maybe I am dense or unspiritual or something else you might suggest, but I don’t get it. This man is accused of providing counseling on an unsecured web site. But has anyone seen any personal information about anyone on his site? It may be that the method he uses is just too complicated for those who have commented here to understand. You describe his web site as unfriendly and I am sure you do not use it, but is it right to describe what he does as unethical and illegal? Unethical to refer people to free information. Illegal to offer links to that information. He might have thought that all information posted on the Internet was available to everyone. For free. But now it seems that everyone has decided to withhold their thoughts on the topic of sin for fear the brother might get hold of that information and pass it on to others. It is suggested here that the person should be banned from the forum for doing these things. I suppose the sin is stealing. Stealing information. I don’t get it. You might also bar the brother from ever entering your church because he might learn something there that he might later share with his paying clients. I don’t get it. But I wonder if the attitude expressed here, or the opposition to his ministry, is a sin. |
Bible Answer: Hi Passerby, What I don't like about this thread's question is that it lacks a reference. Who is "Comfort" or "Ray Comfort"? I see no name on this forum by that handle. Is the poster mixing his forum/internet sites? It appears so to me. From the heart, Ray |
