AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified [that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God] by faith, [let us grasp the fact that] we have peace with God [and the joy of reconciliation with Him] through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed). |
Bible Question:
I have been studying Ezekiel 18 and have become confused about sin. Are we not born sinful in nature because of the original sin of Adam and Eve? If I understand Ezekiel 18 right we are no longer being held accountable for original sin or sins passed on through the generations, but only those sins we commit. |
Bible Answer: Hi Aliennow, This can be a confusing issue. Key chapters to study are Romans 5 (Esp. vss 12 to the end) and Revelation 20 (esp. 11-15). There is more as well but these lay a solid foundation. We are born with the fallen nature, and we will suffer physical death, as well as all the result of the curse, because of it. When the unsaved are judged in the final judgment, they will be judged for the sins they alone committed. So there is a temporal result of original sin, and an eternal result of personal sin. You can read much more about this in the archives by searching such words as "imputation", "imputed", and the like. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |
