AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified [that is, acquitted of sin, declared blameless before God] by faith, [let us grasp the fact that] we have peace with God [and the joy of reconciliation with Him] through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed). |
Subject: Peace with God! |
Bible Note: Paul uses the term 'peace' in two very different ways. He speaks of 'peace with God' and the 'peace of God'. He uses the phrase 'peace of God' in Phil. 4:7, where the peace is something that comes from God. But, in Rom. 5:1, he speaks rather of a 'peace with God'. In the long view, even this peace is from God, but the narrower focus here is on the fact that those who were once objects of God's wrath now have peace with God because of the free gift of justification. This peace only comes through faith. It cannot be earned by works, by circumcision, by nationality, or by the law (see Rom. 4). Do you have peace with God? Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
