Bible Note: Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think you have missed the point of this chapter. Paul's message in this chapter is that the whole physical aspect of Abraham's lineage was never the point. Rather his lineage was to be understood as a lineage of faith. For example, look at v. 12. It clearly states that Abraham is the father of circumcision to those of the circumcision but also those of faith who are not of the circumcision. The whole point of the chapter is that Abraham IS our forefather in the only manner of import, that of faith. |
