NASB | Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 3:28 For we maintain that an individual is justified by faith distinctly apart from works of the Law [the observance of which has nothing to do with justification, that is, being declared free of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]. |
Bible Question: WHAT WAS THE LAW THAT WE DONT GO BUY ANY MORE? |
Bible Answer: Take a look at the Levitical Code for starters--it, and the other decrees that God made for the Israelites in the Torah (the first five books of the Bible). At the time, salvation was through observance of God's commands, from the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20) to rules on proper diet and the sacrifice of animals. When Jesus died on the cross, however, he died so that we can be saved solely through faith in him (Romans 10:9) -- we're no longer bound by Jewish law to achieve the forgiveness of sins. |
