NASB | Romans 16:17 ¶ Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 16:17 ¶ I urge you, brothers and sisters, to keep your eyes on those who cause dissensions and create obstacles or introduce temptations [for others] to commit sin, [acting in ways] contrary to the doctrine which you have learned. Turn away from them. |
Subject: We are to do the opposite of this verse. |
Bible Note: Hank, my understanding of this verse is that we are to only avoid a specific kind of dissensions and hindrances. Which are those that are contrary to the teaching we have learned from God. Which also means that there are some d and h's that are not contrary but are according to the teaching and so we are to be doing them. Such as the contending for the faith in Jude 3. If this does not answer all your questions, I will try again. Also, praise God for being thus accused, for it is only by His work in me that I do it. |
