AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 16:17 ¶ I urge you, brothers and sisters, to keep your eyes on those who cause dissensions and create obstacles or introduce temptations [for others] to commit sin, [acting in ways] contrary to the doctrine which you have learned. Turn away from them. |
Subject: We are to do the opposite of this verse. |
Bible Note: tomn, from your updated post and your helpful hint contained therein, I infer (well, almost) that your meaning is that believers should do the opposite of the bad things this verse speaks against, viz., they should NOT cause dissentions and hindrances contrary to the teaching they have learned. If that is your meaning -- and I'm yet not convinced that it is -- then that is not what you said in your post to which I formerly responded. I'm about average, give or take a few points, at being able to extract meaning from what is said; I fall flat in my ability to guess at what may or may not be meant. So you may have to spell it out for me in the simple terms in which this old Arkansan is accustomed to think!.... It is, of course, flattering to read your words to me, "You appear thoughtful." It rather shocked me to read them, because rarely am I thus accused, and I do thank you! --Hank |
