Bible Question: Is the sin of adultry or fornication any different to homosexualility? |
Bible Answer: In 1 Corinthians 6:15-20 the Lord speaks of a Christian being joined to the Lord and being one spirit with Him, so that if such a believer joins himself to a prostitute, he becomes one body with her. Paul asks the question, "Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute?" and answers his question with "May it never be!" The same principle applies to the act of fornication or adultery. However, I think the Bible teaches that the sin of homosexuality involves a deeper corrupting influence, as in Romans 1 where Scripture says three times that "God gave them over" to a worsening depravity in verses 24, 26, and 28. And this defiling process began with a simple refusal to "honor Him as God or give thanks" (v.21). But let's not forget as well that Jesus teaches us the real problem lies in our hearts, where adultery arises from along with other evil abiding within. Matthew 5:27-29 |
