Bible Note: Hi djconklin, The dictionary says, "bond-servant n. 1 a person bound to service without pay 2 a slave" So I would not say that this is mis-translation since the word bond-servant has "slave" as a second meaning. I am reminded of John 15:15 where Jesus says, "No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master (or Master) is doing; but Î have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you." Parenthesis is mine. If I remember correctly, a bond-servant was a former slave that continued his service out of the love for the master. He did service without pay, but really out of friendship to the master. As far as the word arrangement for Jesus Christ or Christ Jesus I found it both ways in my Interlinear Greek-English New Testaments. I have one put out by Baker books and one by Tyndale. I don't think that the order is important. What is important is to receive the gospel or good news that Jesus is the Messiah; that He is God among us. Later, Ray |
