Bible Note: Hi Curt, you mean Beth Steel is still in business? I thought they priced themselves out a long time ago. :) I was a temp. contractor, piping design. Usually we got paid a little more than perm. employees because that's all we get, no benefits but not there. I almost fell out when I heard what they were getting plus the benefits. Shoot, every so often, they'd get a 6 week vacation! One time I worked for the Beth Shipyard. One of the guys who used to be direct at Steel was there, I think he was phased out. I couldn't believe what the workers got either-no wonder companies go overseas! Fair pay is one thing but the unions were holding them up! One time I had an apt on Patterson Park Ave, overlooking the park. You could see all the way to Sparrows Point. Then out the back window you could see all the way downtown. It was just a dinky apt, bedroom, kit and bath but what a view!!! |
