Bible Question: In 1Cor14:22 Paul mentions that Tounges is a sign for unbelievers.Yet in verse 23 he says that would they not call you mad if they saw you speaking in Tounges |
Bible Answer: Bunty, as you see, this is a 'hot' topic. Let me challenge you to consider three things. Spirit baptism is not a sign of 'salvation'. In most full gospel denominations it is taught as a second event after salvation. As inmyheart quoted, some believed and were them baptized in the Holy Spirit after the apostles came and laid hands on them. Secondly, the tongues not all would have as Brad pointed to are the 'gift of tongues' where the Holy Spirit unctions the believer to speak a message to the congregation, because Paul also states that 'do all interpret?' Third Paul indicates there is a tongues for private prayer and worship which all can have if they will receive by faith. Paul said "I pray with the Spirit and I pray with the understanding".
