AMPLIFIED 2015 | Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. |
Subject: this mean baptism saves you? |
Bible Note: Hello Paul, You state that, "God saves us by several things working together including the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:1-11), the blood of Jesus, grace, faith and baptism (lit. immersion)." Are you making the claim that it is not "BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH" that we are saved? Are you absolutely certain that Rom. 6:1-11 is speaking of water baptism? If so, how? I would think that such a verse as 1 Pet. 3:18-22 can create more difficulties than it explains- unless it is understood in context and within the whole scope of scripture itself? Read in isolation, one can i(ncorrectly) arrive at the conclusion that the act of baptism itself is salvific! Additionally, as it is one of the more difficult passages in the NT, I would be careful in offering it as the explanation of salvation. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
