Subject: Question for Rowdy.... |
Bible Note: Greetings Rowdy! How are we to make sense of the sum total of Scripture if we completely ignore the individual parts my friend? John 3:36 says that if we 'believe' we have eternal life. It doesn't say that we have to 'believe' and do anything else. To say that 'something' else is required is to make this verse a lie. God didn't 'hide' the instructions on salvation throughout Scripture so that they must be found and assembled before someone can understand them. What is the best way to make sense of all of Scripture? Let's start with the clear statements. We are saved by grace through faith. When we believe, we are saved. After that, there are many commands that we ought to obey, but these things do not save us. Any interpretation that completely ignores the clearest and simplest statements must be in error.
