Bible Question:
I'm having a very hard time understanding John9:1-12 and Job1-2 I need some help.... According to Exodus did the disciples think they had a good reason to ask about the sin of the blind parents? The man was blind at birth due to the sins of his parents? In Job1-2 is personal suffering of Christians always traceable to sin. also was Job suffering for the glory of God and for his strength of his soul. So hard to understand. Job took his punshiment and NEVER said anything bad about God. He was a strong person. |
Bible Answer: If I am correct, it was a general belief that a person suffered illness due to sin, so that is why the disciples asked the question. We do have sickness and death because of the fall of man, but God does not punish us by inflicting us with sickness. The man was born blind so that he could meet Jesus when he did and glorify God when Jesus healed him. Yes, Job's sufering was for the glory of God and for the strength of his soul. If you remember, the devil told God that Job only served Him (God) because God was good to Job. Through Job's trial, God showed satan, Job and Job's friends that Job served God out of a pure heart, not based on material things. God knew that Job would pass the test, and Job is an example of how we are to respond to suffering and things that we do not understand. We must wait on God and trust in His goodness. |
