Bible Question: Is it bibical for a church to require a female member who became pregant out of wedlock to come before the church and ask forgiveness or her name will be removed from the church role. She has confessed her sin to God and ask forgiveness and has confronted her family and admitted she had done wrong and she knows it is not right. |
Bible Answer: She's committed no sin against the church. So, she does not need to ask for their forgiveness. If a believer sins against another believer, the issue may come before the church if it's not resolved soon enough, but even then it's not a matter of the offender asking the church's forgiveness but of the church exercising discipline. See context of Mat. 18:17. Matt 18:17 "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector." |
