Bible Question:
Is their scriptural support for the concept that the Father draws EVERYONE to Christ, or just some of us? I am leaning toward the idea, through intense study, that the Father does not draw all of us to Him. If He did draw us to Him, how could we as puny humans resist the will of the Almighty God who created all things? Also, since some are obviously NOT saved, if Christ died for all, then regarding those who are NOT saved His Holy and perfect sacrifice would have at least in part, relative to those lost, be a failure. I cannot believe that Christ's sacrifice was anything other than a perfect success, and hence He will lose none that the Father has given Him..consequently, I am wondering if He did die for all, or for "all the Father gave Him. Does anyone have any thoughts to share that might help me to understand this better? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Slide M46! This topic has been discussed many times before. Just do a search on the word 'draw'. My quick answer would be to point you to John 12:32, "But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." But, based upon my past discussions on this verse, I would guess that your response would be that 'all' here doesn't really mean 'all'! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
