AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 3:16 ¶ "For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. |
Bible Question:
Since the bible clearly states that God loved the world, Why can't I? Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. —1 John 2:15 John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[1] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. |
Bible Answer: We are not to love the world as in desiring to be like the world, but we are to love 'As He loves'. Ephesians 5:1-2 1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Our carnal nature wars with our reborn spirit and the Holy Spirit, seeking it's own will and desires. As our flesh or carnal nature is brought under subjection to the spirit, God's love can manifest through us in place of the self seeking old nature. Then we begin to love as HE loved. Galatians 5: "17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
