AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 3:16 ¶ "For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. |
Bible Question:
Since the bible clearly states that God loved the world, Why can't I? Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. —1 John 2:15 John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[1] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. |
Bible Answer: Greetings! God can "love the world" because God is absolutely Holy and unchageable. We, on the other hand are not! Recently, I was struck by a comment from Beth Moore. She said, "You become what your focus is." So, if we choose to "love the world", we will become like the world. This is in direct contrast to God's command to "be holy." (1 Peter 1:14-16) In order to do this, we must remain focused on Jesus (Heb 12:2)- to be conformed to HIS likeness. (Rom 8:29;12:2)Therefore, God's admonition to not love the world is for our protection and part of the process He uses to make us complete in Christ. mommapbs |
