Subject: why jesus had not allowed mary to touch |
Bible Note: I don't know where I developed this belief, so please comment or criticize(nicely pls) on what you may think about it. I had believed that Jesus said this because until he ascended to the Father, He still had to remain "clean" in the meaning of the Law of Moses. The law of Moses states that if you touch a corpse, you are unclean for a certain length of time. If Jesus was to ascend to the Father immediately after seeing Mary Magdalene, he had to be careful and remain clean. The thinking here being that until he ascended to the Father and offered himself to the Father - we are considered dead (corpses) Once he ascended, his offering was accepted and we believed in Jesus, then we were alive and then "born again" when we received the Holy Spirit. If Mary had touched him, he would be unclean and his offering would be unacceptable to the Father and we would all be doomed. |
