Bible Question: Refer to John 19:26-27 - Jesus gave last instructions at the cross to His mother and John. Can you tell what His message meant? |
Bible Answer: Greetings John Hermes! Here is a little commentary on John 19:26-27.. In my opinion, the Disciple's Study Bible gives the best answer for your question, even though MacArthur provides some very good commentary also.. :) "JOHN 19:26-27 Jesus Christ, Death—As He died, Jesus showed His divine love for His mother. Thus He served other people’s needs to the last." (Disciple's Study Bible) "19:26 the disciple whom He loved. This is a reference to John. Jesus, as firstborn and breadwinner of the family before He started His ministry, did not give the responsibility to His brothers because they were not sympathetic to His ministry nor did they believe in Him (John 7:3-5) and they likely were not present at the time (i.e., their home was in Capernaum- see 2:12)."
