Subject: Jesus Died for all, why speak in parable |
Bible Note: Hello flyman, You ask, "It is not God's purpose to save the whole world?" While it is God, "who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim. 2:4), not all will. This would be referred to as Universalism- a doctrine not taught in scripture. Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." Note - Matt. 7:13-14: "Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it." John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." Rom. 1:18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness" I hope this helps, BradK |
