Bible Question:
please explain matthews 22;34-46,and what does it mean now to our everyday life. |
Bible Answer: Hi Kevin, Welcome to the forum. This passage in Matthew is where Jesus puts the Pharisees to silence. Verse 34 tells us that Jesus had put the Sadducees to silence and so they gathered themselves together and asked Jesus one question. Jesus then asked them a question; end of discussion. The application for today is "don't question God." I don't mean to not go to Him with our questions; for He wants to hear from us and relate to us. But don't question God; don't question that He is, and that He is able. Don't question the Deity of Jesus. I like the NKJ for this passage for it capitalizes the Son of David. What we need to do is know Him as Lord; even as the Lord your God. We know Him now, just as much as David by inspiration knew Him. We have the word of God that teaches about Him. The Pharisee were unable to answer Him a word, nor did anyone dare from that day on to ask Him another question. Verse 46. I give you John 17:3-7 to compare to Matthew 22:37-23:1. We know Him as the only true God and we keep His word rather than trying to answer His word. From the heart, Ray |
