Bible Note: Good morning Robert. I will start from the beginning based on your response "lost sheep wondering". First I would point you to the book of John. Specifically chapter 3. One must be born again to enter the Knogdom of God. Also 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. We are all (every human being) born under the curse of sin. We are born with a sin nature because of the sin of Adam. Romans 5:18-20. Adam fell and we all came under the curse of the law of sin and death. Condemned to eternity in hell and having NO HOPE, until Jesus came. God came to earth in the flesh to pay the death penalty for each of us. The only requirement is to accept Him as saviour. Romans 10:8-10 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is the word of faith, which we preach; That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Read the book of John in it's entirety(even a few times) because it is the best description of Jesus Christ to someone who is seeking. Summary... The first encounter with the Holy Spirit is at the point of conviction. He is the one who convicts us of sin as we hear verbally or hear through reading God's word. He reveals holiness and therefore we recognize sin. At this point we must make a personal decision to accept the truth the Holy Spirit brings, "I am a sinner in need of a savior." If we choose to repent and ask God forgiveness and mercy through Jesus, we must Confess with our mouth that Jesus is your Lord and saviour. You may be passed this point, but I do not know. God bless |
