Bible Question: Years ago on TV I saw President Eisenhower sitting in church during a prayer. His eyes were fully open. It struck me as odd then (I was very young), having been taught from the cradle to close my eyes in prayer. To pray with eyes closed -- is it custom or commandment? --Hank |
Bible Answer: Its a custom that has very little to do with God and a lot to do with Human nature, namely, distractions. Close your eyes so you aren't distracted and looking around and fold your hands so you are not figeting or doing anything to distract you. Being a parent, I am SURE this had to be dreampt up by a parent at some point! lol Bless...ArtS |
