Bible Question: Years ago on TV I saw President Eisenhower sitting in church during a prayer. His eyes were fully open. It struck me as odd then (I was very young), having been taught from the cradle to close my eyes in prayer. To pray with eyes closed -- is it custom or commandment? --Hank |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... 2 Chr 7:15; John 11:41 ... Hank, I don't know where the Bible says we need to close our eyes or bow our head or fold our hands ... much less all three. It is something we are taught and do. God is watching and Jesus looked up when He prayed. It would be nice to look God face to face as I pray. S |
