Subject: How to teach people to hear God's voice? |
Bible Note: Greetings, Colin - May I briefly fish in this pond too? :-) I'm not handy at ruling out possibilities, but I tend to be a Berean in the sense that my faith is based solely on what Scripture says. And I'm unaware of any scriptural passage that teaches that Christ communicates with His sheep aurally in these 'last days.' Hebrews 1:2, "In these last days [God] has spoken to us in His Son..." I believe that the context of this passage (see also v.1) when viewed in the broad context of the N.T., supports the exegesis that the written word of the gospel is indicated here. Compare Romans 1:16. And 2 Timothy 3:16 speaks of the sufficiency of Scripture. One must ask why the Scriptures if Christ makes vocal contact to persons individually. .... I must agree with Doc that the language of John 10:4 is metaphoric. --Hank |
