Bible Question: what is the parable of the lost sheep (in luke 15:3-7 and matthew 18:12-14 ) telling us about the way we relate to each other and the way God wants us to act with each other? |
Bible Answer: Greetings, In addition to what Mommapbs said I would like to add that the parable also tells us in Matt 18:13 that just one "stumbled" or "lost" soul is so precious that even as the Jewish shepherd would leave the flock of 99 sheep in the care of an undershepherd to seek one stray lamb, so Jesus, our Good Shepherd has come to "seek and to save". In the case of the Jewish shepherd, seeking in the mountains and the hills was so strenuous and challenging that when he finally found the sheep he was happier over the one who was found than he was over the 99 safe ones. So our Good Shepherd rejoices when we come home to Him. prayon |
