Bible Question:
Witnessing ************** Perhaps we could look at the subject of Witnessing in another constructive viewpoint.. What are some common reasons that people reject the Gospel, or act unfavorably toward our witness? Also, is persistence in witnessing always to our benefit? The following are three reasons that I have found that people act unfavorably toward a Christian witness... 1) Fear 2) Love of Pleasure, satisfied with pride and sin 3) A bad experience with Christianity Can anyone elaborate on these or think of others? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Matt 5:13-16; Luke 2:52; John 9; Eph 4; 1 The 3:12, 5:11ff ... Nolan, we cannot do much about 1) - 2) and Steve's 4) - 5) ... but we can do something about 3). We need to follow His example of gaining favoer with God (first) and man (w/o compromising standards) Luke 2:52, Matt 5:13-16. We need to be different ... 1 The 3:12 says we are to love each other and others ... then starting in 5:11, there is a list of what we need to do for/ to one another. But how do we do? My vision is to have the Church on fire, like the burning bush ... so it attracts people to see the wonder of God working in the people. Also, see Ephesians 4. Satan will put roadblocks, for it is a battle. So on the others, we need to pray that God opens the path for people. Fear was put in people by the Jewish leaders, like the man born blind and his parents (John 9). Love of pleasure, satisfied with pride and sin may of been the Jewish leaders downfall. Searcher |
