Bible Note: Hi Nolan, That's O.K. We've been looking together about capitalization of words in the Scriptures. I think that it is important to be consistent; but I think different translators have been assigned different books, and they aren't all "on the same page" so to speak. Now that you have seen my questions, what do you think about John 4:19,29? Does the Greek have different words for "a" and "the"? Is the woman at the well perceiving Him as "the" Prophet, a Prophet, or as written in our versions, a prophet? Is she in verse 29 telling the men to "come see a Man",NKJ, or to "come see a man" as in the NASB? In other words, what does she mean by her question, "this is not the Christ, is it? What would be implied by the Greek grammatical structure; is she showing doubt or is she making them think about it? |
