Bible Question: I have been trying to find a church home. The only church that I've ever known since childhood is part of the foursquare pentecostal religion. I don't feel comfortable there or anywhere lately because people are directly worshipping Jesus. I love to worship and praise God but I don't want to make the mistake of braking the 1st commandment. Jesus even instructed people to worship his father but Christians continue to worship him directly. I realize that Jesus was a good man and an awesome teacher but he even prayed to a higher power, God. Doesn't that mean that there was "someone" else? God created the commandments (specifically # 1) before Jesus even existed. Why would God have instructed Moses to create them if he wasn't talking about Jesus too? Please help me. |
Bible Answer: The church that you attend is absolutely right in worshipping Jesus, because that is what the Holy Spirit does(JOHN 15:26,16:14)HE GLORIFIES JESUS! Many religions believe that they are truly praising God,(but they're not)they can't know HIM without first believing on CHRIST.(ROM 5:10)see John 8:19. Jesus made it possible (by his death)for human beings to have a relationship with God. Jesus made it clear to us that He is GOD never should be referred to as a good man or teacher, the Spirit leads us to Jesus and He leads us to the Father(Matt 28:19) You must examine yourself if you feel. By praising/worshiping Jesus you are following the first commandment. Unless you believe that Jesus is God you surely die in your sin (JOHN 8:24). |
