Bible Question: I have been trying to find a church home. The only church that I've ever known since childhood is part of the foursquare pentecostal religion. I don't feel comfortable there or anywhere lately because people are directly worshipping Jesus. I love to worship and praise God but I don't want to make the mistake of braking the 1st commandment. Jesus even instructed people to worship his father but Christians continue to worship him directly. I realize that Jesus was a good man and an awesome teacher but he even prayed to a higher power, God. Doesn't that mean that there was "someone" else? God created the commandments (specifically # 1) before Jesus even existed. Why would God have instructed Moses to create them if he wasn't talking about Jesus too? Please help me. |
Bible Answer: Exodus_20, We call ourselves "Christians" and worship Jesus because He is God. The bible tells us so: Isaiah 9 6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. There are many scripture verses that tells us that Christ is the only way to the kingdom of heaven. Here are a few: Acts 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." John 10 7Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8All who ever came before Me[a] are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 14 1 "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2In My Father's house are many mansions;[a] if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.[b] 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4And where I go you know, and the way you know." 5Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?" 6Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 20 28And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" Matthew 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. Does this help? Pastor Glenn |
