Bible Question: In 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 it says that when God decends from Heaven the dead who have known Christ will rise first , and then those living who know Christ will follow. I've always been told that as soon as we die, our spirits go straight to Heaven. I'm confused. Please help! |
Bible Answer: there are several biblical answers to support that when we as christians die are spirits go to heaven. such as the one i have given of Jesus telling the thief on the cross that he would be with Jesus in heaven that day. for those that chose to believe that they will go to heaven upon death, they view the vs you have pointed out in Thes. to mean that that is when Christ will reunite our physical bodies with our spirits and make them perfect and well. and that those who died a physical death would be reunited first, then those who are living will be transformed in the air. some camps believe in purgatory and they would argue that the thief was going there and that Christ would visit purgatory after being hung on the cross. though that is kind of a strech in my opionion. |
